Revealing in an interview that he knows he 'could handle a movie about first love', the actor who stars as Duke in 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' says his childhood dream has come true.
Taking up roles as an action hero in movies is
Channing Tatum's childhood dream, but it doesn't stop him from taking on a leading role in romantic film. The star of "
Fighting" recently opened up that although he spent most of his childhood imagining himself being an action hero, he knows that he can handle romantic movies as well.
"When you're growing up, you imagine yourself being an action hero who's running around shooting guns and jumping from buildings," the 29-year-old shared as quoted by Showbiz Spy. Having starred in "
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra", he said, "I've done that, but I knew I could handle a movie about first love. In real life I have probably been as equally versed in romance as physical stuff."
On the occasion, the husband of actress
Jenna Dewan also talked about his plan in developing a movie about strippers. "I've already got the director picked out. I'd like Nicolas Refn, who did the movie 'Bronson', to do it because he's insane for it," the former stripper said. "It needs to be a crazy film and I think it's also possible to do a cute, romantic movie."
Channing Tatum made his first feature film debut in 2005's high school drama, "
Coach Carter". He went on to star in "
She's the Man", "
Step Up" and its sequel "
Step Up 2 the Streets", as well as "
Public Enemies". He can currently be seen in a romantic drama opposite
Amanda Seyfried in "
Dear John".
