"" has come out as one of the nominations leaders at 2010 Independent Spirit Awards. The drama film, which sees as a social worker, was on Tuesday, December 1 announced to be collecting five nods from the awards honoring independent filmmakers, and thus shared similar number with another drama "".

The movie about an abused teen mother nabbed nominations for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Female Lead, Best First Screenplay and Best Supporting Female. It will battle against "Last Station" in the first three categories. For the Best Feature title, it is also up against "" "Amreeka" and "".

"Precious" fails to bring recognition to Carey, but it does land two of its other major cast Gabourey Sidibe and . Sidibe is listed against , Nisreen Faour, and for Best Female Lead, while Mo'Nique is among the Best Supporting Female nominees that include Samantha Morton and Mia Wasikowska.

The announcement of nominees for next year's Spirit Awards was made by and Taraji P. Henson at the Sofitel Hotel. The ceremony of the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards itself, which traditionally takes place on Saturday afternoon, will be held instead on Friday night, March 5, 2010. The location is also moved from the beach in Santa Monica to L.A. Live downtown. U.S. cable TV channel IFC will air the awards live.
