Katy Perry has joined Cobra Starship, Leighton Meester, Taylor Swift, and Ne-Yo to be featured in promotional videos for 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. In a pic, which is released by , the 23-year-old songstress is photographed striking a seductive pose when sitting on a director's chair in New York Times Square.
Filming a version of "Tonight, which comes from famous Broadway play "West Side Story", Perry claims, "I play Anita." Then, she continues, "Although I know I should be playing Natalie Wood['s part, which is being played by Taylor Swift], because I've got the big eyes and the brown hair. But everyone keeps telling me Anita is hotter, cooler and sluttier. So I can relate to that!"
At upcoming 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Katy Perry secures a spot among Best Female Video nominees, being nominated for the music video of her 2008 single "Hot N Cold". She will compete with Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, and Pink, who are also nominated for the category. Set to be hosted by comedian Russell Brand, the annual awards show will be aired live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on September 13.
