Temporarily replacing Paula Abdul, who has officially left 'American Idol', Victoria Adams and Katy Perry are among celebrities who will be guest judges on the show.
Just a day after
Paula Abdul officially left "American Idol", the show has found some celebrities to temporarily replace the 47-year-old beauty. On Thursday, August 6, FOX executives announced that
Victoria Adams and
Katy Perry have agreed to be one-time guest judges on the ninth season of the singing competition.
Victoria's publicist has confirmed her inclusion on "American Idol", stating that the former "
Spice Girls" member has agreed to make a "one-off appearance" on the hit US talent show. Meanwhile, no words have been released by the "I Kissed a Girl" songstress, Katy, regarding the news. Both stars will join fellow judges
Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and
Kara DioGuardi, who will appear on the whole ninth season.
The studio executives also stated that there will be more female artists to be guest judges on the show. However, FOX and producers of "American Idol" said they are searching for a permanent judge to replace Paula when the ninth season of the show starts to air in early 2010.
Paula Abdul, who had been one of the "American Idol" judges since its first season in 2002, announced her departure from the show on Wednesday, August 5. "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL," she wrote on her Twitter after she failed to secure a new contract with a big enough pay raise.
