Jessica Simpson has been criticized for her curvier look following her appearance at a Florida concert in January. Although previously claiming that she was proud of her shapely figure, in Glamour's September issue, the singer admitted that she has struggled with body image issues her entire life.
"When I was young, I would look at magazines and feel a lot of pressure," Jessica stated. She then recalled her childhood, "As a child of 12, I would write things in my journal like, 'I'm lying here and all I can think about is that my stomach is hanging over my underwear.' That disturbs me even today!"
Jessica further revealed, "I was always disconnected from myself; there was this idea of perfection I couldn't ever get to. But all women struggle with insecurity, and we all have something we don't like about ourselves." She also noted that no matter how hard women struggle to get their dream look, they have to love themselves to realize that they are beautiful.
"There is no 'perfect' you," Jessica boldly stated. The Nick Lachey's ex-wife continued telling , "It will be interesting for women to see how self-obsessed we've become." In further interview with the magazine which was conducted before she split from Tony Romo, she credited the athlete with helping her to become more comfortable with her appearance. "Tony never ever places judgment. You can just relax and feel beautiful. He's just that type of person," Jessica said of her ex-beau.
