As being scheduled before, an autopsy on Michael Jackson's body was done on Friday, June 26. During a press conference in the afternoon, Craig Harvey, the chief coroner investigator of L.A. County Coroner's Office, claimed the King of Pop's body suffered no external trauma and there was "no indication of foul play" on his death. He then added that Jackson took "some prescription medications" before suffering cardiac arrest, but he could not say what those drugs were.
Harvey couldn't mention exactly the cause of the death and so additional tissue studies and testing, including toxicology, neuropathology, pulmonary and others, are needed. All these tests are scheduled to be completed in four to six weeks. When those are completed, the ongoing case can be closed.
Michael Jackson was pronounced dead on Thursday, June 25 at 2:26 P.M. after experiencing cardiac arrest and being rushed to UCLA Medical Center while in a deep coma. Some reports said that the 50-year-old singer passed away because of an overdose on Demerol, but Brian Oxman, who has become the family's attorney for more than 20 years, refused to comment on the types of medications which Jackson took.
"It is something which is private to Michael, and we'll have to wait for the toxicology reports before we jump to any kind of conclusions," Oxman told Us Magazine. "I only know that I warned that his day may come. And lo and behold, here we are."
