Chace Crawford definitely will star on 'Footloose' remake, Paramount Pictures confirms.
Paramount Pictures confirms that
Chace Crawford will star on "
Footloose" remake. The studio tells on Tuesday, May 19 that the "Gossip Girl" hunk is set to play Ren McCormack.
Previously, Chace Crawford was reported auditioning for a role on "Footloose" to replace "High School Musical" heartthrob
Zac Efron, who has dropped out of the musical remake. "He did really well," a source said about Crawford's audition.
However, the 23-year-old actor still faced a problem because the shooting time for the flick and his TV series "Gossip Girl" clashed. "There's a big overlap of when he'd have to shoot 'Footloose' and the next season of 'Gossip Girl,'" another source told E! Online.
"Footloose" musical remake is filmed based on the 1984 movie with the same title. It is produced by Dylan Sellers, Craig Zadan, and Neil Meron in association with Paramount Pictures. Recently, some famous celebrities, including Hayden Pannettiere,
Amanda Bynes, and "Dancing with the Stars" winner
Julianne Hough, have auditioned for roles on the flick. The film itself is set to be released in U.S. theaters in 2010.
