Brandy finally talks about being deceitful to her marriage to a music producer named Robert Smith exclusively to Us Weekly in an interview. Of it, the singer says, "I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model." Although the holy matrimony was a lie, the singer admits, "Our relationship was very real, we just weren't legally married."
Smith broke the news to a radio station that the marriage never happened when they separated in 2003. Smith's statement in 2003 counteracted Brandy's statement in 2002 when she announced she had secretly wed Smith. The singer gave birth to their baby named Sy'rai four months after the fake wedding.
During the occasion, the 29-year-old star also expresses that she has decided to go on with her career. She tells the magazine, "I think this is my year because I've decided that I'm going to go with the flow in my life." She also adds, "The purpose of my life is music. It's my responsibility to give the fans something they've been waiting for, something they deserve."
Brandy gets back to her music with "Human", which is scheduled to be out in stores on December 9. In an interview with Access Hollywood guest correspondent, Quddus, the singer talks about the album, saying, "One of the reasons why this album is titled "Human" is because people forget that when you are seen everywhere, they forget that you are a human being at the end of the day." She also goes further, "I just sing. And you may be familiar with my face, but at the end of the day, if you cut me, I'll bleed."
