Add Leona Lewis to the list of celebrities who back U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama. Although the British singer can't vote for him in the election, which will be held on Tuesday, November 4, she has thrown her support behind the Democratic presidential hopeful.
The "Bleeding Love" songstress believes Obama could inspire young ethnic minorities in her country. "I just don't know what's going on with the young kids in London now," she said. "I think Barack Obama could inspire young ethnic minorities in the UK to do something productive and show it's not cool to do nothing with your life."
Leona also thinks that John McCain's rival is the perfect choice for American voters. "I think Obama is amazing. He's just so cool and articulate. Nothing fazes him. I think it would be a huge step forward for America and the world," the 23-year-old singer said of Obama.
"It would mean so much to have a mixed-race president, I just can't explain. The country needs that change," the former winner of "The X Factor" added. "It would mean everything for ethnic minorities in that country and every country around the world to have a mixed-race leader of America."
