After just six months of dating, Natalie Portman has split from her rocker boyfriend Devendra Banhart. "Yes, they have broken up," a source close to him told In Touch Weekly magazine.
Although Natalie and Devendra have decided to break up, his friend revealed that the split was amicable. "Natalie and Devendra will remain friends," the pal told the magazine, adding that the couple "need some space and time away."
Natalie began dating Devendra after starring in music video for his single "Carmensita," which was shot in March this year. "They got together right after the video shoot," a source revealed at the time.
In April this year, the pair took their romance to public and were spotted kissing on the streets of New York. The 27-year-old actress even moved from New York to Los Angeles in order to get closer to the 27-year-old folk singer. As a fan of his music, she previously had asked him to donate a song to the charity compilation "Big Change: Songs for FINCA," which she took part on iTunes.
In other news, Natalie has made her directorial debut, making a short film "Eve," which was debuted at the Venice Film Festival recently. Explaining why she was interested in directing, the beauty admitted "I was always interested in trying to write and direct. We have so much time off between filming as actors that we tend to get restless and we want a creative outlet. There is not always acting work that fulfills that need."
