Former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken is a father. Aiken's mom told local TV station WRAL that the 29-year-old singer and music producer Jaymes Foster welcomed a baby boy in his home-state of North Carolina on Friday morning, August 8. Faye explained that the baby, Parker Foster Aiken, was born at 08:08 A.M., weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.
Meanwhile, Aiken posted on his blog, announcing the baby arrival. "HE'S HERE! My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)," the "Invisible" singer wrote. The new dad is very proud and happy welcoming the baby to the world.
"Wow ... 8:08 ... 08/08/08. The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also," Aiken added. He's said to be "Smiling from ear-to-ear" about the happy news. His mom also added that little Parker has "dark hair".
In May, it had been confirmed that Jaymes was artificially inseminated. Aiken and the 50-year-old music producer are not a couple but plan to raise the child together. Jaymes is the sister of record producer David Foster and has been the executive producer of Aiken's last 3 albums.
In the meantime, the singer has consistently avoided questions about his sexuality. He told Access Hollywood in April, "People don't want to have that type of stuff pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever." "They don't want stuff like that pushed in their face. I don't think that's necessary and that's also not what I'm here for. I mean, I went on Idol to be a singer, I went on Idol to be an entertainer and that's what my priority is," the "American Idol" star added.
