The co-star of Joaquin Phoenix in movie We Own the Night, Eva Mendes finally talks about her rehab stint. The 34-year-old actress who was previously reported to enter Lindsay Lohan's Rehab Center in Utah berated a reporter during an interview with a magazine for making a joke about rehab, saying that the comment was "a bit tacky".
The reporter for Interview magazine was previously making joke about changing the name of Alcoholics Anonymous to be Alcoholics Unanimous for the amount of celebrities admitted to rehab. The beauty shot back, "I'm not making jokes, because people die from this stuff. So, honestly, I think it's a bit tacky that you made a joke. I've got to be honest... People have died, and I've lost friends too, even recently."
Mendes who entered Cirque Lodge Rehab Center in February for her alcohol problem explained that it's not easy to be celebrities whose lives are so visible. She also added that she has a really good sense of humor, but this alcohol problem is very sensitive for her.
Although the actress' rep confirmed her treatment at the time, no details were provided about the nature of her stay, with the official word stating that Mendes was getting treatment for "personal issues".
About the uncertainty cause of the Cuban-American actress's recent trip to the Rehab Center, Mendes said, "I don't care what people think. I just don't care. So I will neither confirm nor deny." She also added, "I think now we just know way too much about our celebrities. It's not that interesting when you know that much about people. I have no ego about me. It's just better for you not to know, because it really does make me a better actor at the end of the day. You're not going into the movie with all these specifics about me."
