David Beckham's 2 million-pound sterling contract with Pepsi will expire later this year, but he is still in doubt whether he wants to continue it or not. Instead of thinking about the contract, the football star is setting his sights to another business venture, creating his own brand of bottled water.
A source told Mirror that David is thinking of launching a range of healthy products, including mineral water. "David Beckham has had a fantastic relationship with Pepsi - it's one of the longest running contracts in its history. But after 10 years he feels there are other things he could do. He is a global brand in himself and there is more scope for him to promote his own products. He has an idea for creating a range of healthy products, including water," the source explained.
According to the source, David may have a joint venture with Pepsi to accomplish his goal for launching a range of bottled water. "That's something PepsiCo might develop with him. David is keen to go down the healthy route to keep in with his sporty image. And Pepsi is desperate to keep him. So who knows...," the source added.
Pepsi is trying to persuade David to remain as its celebrity endorser considering that his contract will expire later this year. Thus, they are currently in negotiations for the possibility to extend the contract. "It is true that we are currently in negotiations to possibly extend the Pepsi relationship, which has lasted over ten years. There are no discussions at this stage with any other drinks companies," the star's representative confirmed.
