Heather Mills has been accused of breaking a promise to provide artificial legs for a disabled mother. The former model had promised to pay for artificial legs for Maria Rybkina, who lost her legs in a train accident four years ago. Maria reportedly is now able to walk again after she is helped by British couple Robin and Inna Barratt, who have launched a fund-raising campaign on Maria's behalf.
Robin and Inna, who raised the money over a two year period, have slammed Mills for not fulfilling her promise. Mills previously promised to donate Maria $20,000 for the new artificial legs. However, she reportedly never gave Maria any money, though she has repeated her promise.
Robin has told Britain's News of The World newspaper that Mills contacted them to promise to pay for Maria's legs, saying "Heather rang us and emailed us repeatedly with promises to pay for Maria's legs. But every single promise she made fell flat. In the end, she never did anything at all."
Aside from promising to pay for the legs, Mills also promised to provide all the medical support which Maria needed to be able to walk again. Nevertheless, Robin said that the ex-wife of Paul McCartney did nothing. Revealing his disappointment to Mills, Robin then said "At first we thought she was a really sincere person. But all her big promises came to nothing. It was shocking behavior."
