Having been rumored to be engaged to rapper Nick Cannon and sported her engagement ring at the TriBeCa Film Festival at Tenjune in New York on Saturday, April 26, Mariah Carey is said to have secretly married to Nick on Wednesday, April 30. A source close to the singer revealed that the couple had a small ceremony in a house Mariah has bought in Eleuthera, the Bahamas.
Mariah and Nick's wedding reportedly was "very impulsive". Only a few close friends of the couple, including rapper Da Brat, attended. A friend of the "Touch My Body" singer told New York Post , "They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks. And she's always had a crush on him." However, the diva didn't get her new husband to sign a prenuptial agreement. The friend claimed to the publication that she was in such a rush to tie the knot, saying "There was no pre-nup - there wasn't time."
Mariah and Nick reportedly started romantic relationship after they teamed up in a music video for the diva's new single "Bye Bye", one of the tracks from her new album "E=MC²". Nick simply cooed "everything" when he was asked about his reason to love Mariah. Moreover, Mariah's friend revealed, "Everyone is happy to see her happy. And it could work out. Some people know each other for five years and get divorced, maybe this is true instant love."
In other Mariah news, her engagement ring costs $2.5 million, according to jeweler Jacob & Co. who confirmed to People. It is crafted from platinum and features a square, emerald-cut fancy light pink diamond in the center, surrounded by 58 pink diamonds, flanked by two half-moon diamonds. The total carat weight of the ring is 17 carats with the center stone alone is 10 carats.
