Violating Probation Order, Pete Doherty Sent to Prison
Troubled rocker Pete Doherty has been ordered to serve time behind bars after he has been found guilty of breaking the terms of his probation order. According to reports, the 29-year-old English musician has been sentenced to 14 weeks imprisonment on Tuesday (08.04.08) during a 30-minute court hearing in London.

The sentence was ruled out by District Judge Davinder Lachhar, the judge who adjourned Doherty's prison sentence back in October 2007, during a hearing held at West London Magistrates Court. Further, it is explained that the jail sentence was dropped because the Babyshambles frontman had breached his probation conditions that consist of "time keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs". Doherty's manager also revealed to Reuters that among numerous reasons he had been jailed, one of them was his failure to come on time at probation hearings.

Due to his sentence, the former lover of supermodel will miss two of his scheduled performances. One is a solo show at the Royal Albert Hall in London which is set on April 26, 2008, and the other is the Glastonbury festival which is held from June 27 to 29. The solo gig reportedly has been canceled and his label, Parlaphone Records, has issued statement stating, ""Peter was very much looking forward to the show and would like to offer his sincerest apologies to all his fans and to all those concerned."

Prior to this sentencing, Doherty has been given a two-year suspended prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to the possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis. At the time, the rocker has been threatened with up to four months behind bars if he broke the law. The probation was ruled out following his arrest in May 2007.
