As his Sunday (02.03.08) blog post about ex-lover generated much speculations about his past relationships, the 'Your Body Is a Wonderland' hitmaker posted another message clarifying the earlier post.

John Mayer posted another message on his blog clarifying the earlier message on March 8. In the blog post entitled
" Never Complain, (Almost) Never Explain", the 30-year-old blues-rock singer noted down that attention and confusion over his
initial post forced him to clear out speculation.
Unofficially dismissing speculation that the ex-lover he meant in the post was one from his former relationships to the Hollywood ladies he has linked earlier, Mayer stated that the blog was a writing technique. He wrote, "The blog - copied from my lyric/idea journal, is all about the P.S. - it's a writing technique called "deceptive resolution"; you think the story is going one way, only to find that it twists around at the end, using all its momentum to swing in another direction."
Expressing his frustration concerning all the speculations surfacing following the blog post, he noted, "How will I write an entire record of lyrics when one small blog passage incites so much curiosity? Can I write a song because of somebody but not about them? By way of my experiences but not as a sordid retelling of them?" Mayer ended his message by writing, "Doin' The Right Thing Like Mookie, John".
Mayer's initial post sparked speculations that it might contain a message for his former girlfriend %Jessica as he once used his blog to defend Simpson when Tony Romo's fans shunt down the pop singer for dating the quarterback. Part of the post read, "Dear Ex Lover, Perhaps you didn't understand the last time I told you to stop contacting me, so I'll do my best to spell it out for you. I do not wish to have you in my life anymore."
