The upcoming Super Bowl game between Super Bowl XLII game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants on Sunday, February 3 will be made more merry with the attendance of R 'n' B superstar Alicia Keys and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. The announcement of the performers was made on Thursday (31.01.08).
Reportedly, the nine-time Grammy Awards-winning singer will give out her performance before the big game begins, whereas Sparks is given the honor to sing The Star-Spangled Banner. The halftime performance will be headlined by Rockers Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Further, it was also reported that one of the Idol judge, Paula Abdul, is set to join the pre-game performance by singing her new pop track "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow".
On the last year's Super Bowl, Prince gave out his performance amidst heavy rain. The year before in Detroit, The Rolling Stones was the headliner. Four years ago, the Super Bowl's halftime performance of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake became the news headlines more than the game itself following their famous wardrobe malfunction.
