Scoring big cash in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End" while receiving critical praise for his performance in "Sweeney Todd", Johnny Depp has been deemed the Top Money-Making Star of 2007 based on Quigley Publishing Company's 76th Annual Poll.
For the versatile actor, this is his second consecutive time to be placed on the No.1 spot in the poll. He first entered the list on the sixth rank in 2003 then soared as the runner-up in 2005 behind Tom Cruise, who this time finished at the seventh slot.
Second place went to Will Smith, thanks to his one-man-show enactment in "I Am Legend", followed by George Clooney on the third and Matt Damon on the fourth with Oscar-winning thespian Denzel Washington rounding out the big five.
Washington's "American Gangster" co-star Russell Crowe popped up next on number six while the eighth position was secured by Nicolas Cage, whose latest vehicle of "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" has already collected over $124 million tally on domestic box office. On the ninth and tenth were Will Ferrell and Tom Hanks, respectively.
Apart from compiling the Top Money-Making Star lineup, Quigley also picked up Shia LaBeouf and Ellen Page as the Stars of Tomorrow for 2007, those felt to have big potentiality to be the Top Money- Makers in the years to come.
