Eddie Murphy and Wife to Hold Second Wedding in U.S.
Only two days after exchanging marriage vows on a private island near Bora Bora, newlyweds and Tracey Edmonds will have another wedding ceremony upon returning to the U.S., a representative for the latter has confirmed.

The second nuptial will reportedly be held to legalize their marriage following reports that their much-publicized wedding was not valid since the States recognizes international weddings if the ceremony adheres to local laws in the country where the deed is done.

As part of French Polynesia, Bora Bora is under French law, which deems a wedding is valid if the couple has been in the territory for thirty days or if they are married in a town hall by a mayor. Murphy and Edmonds, however, only arrived shortly after Christmas to then have a seaside ceremony on New Year's Day (Jan. 1).

"As is typical when couples get married in foreign countries, a legal ceremony will take place when they return to the U.S.," Edmonds' spokesperson said to People.com. "The wedding that took place in Bora Bora was a ceremony to bind Eddie and Tracey spiritually in the presence of family and friends. The couple plan a legal ceremony as soon as they return to the States."

Murphy and Edmonds' Bora Bora wedding was announced late Tuesday (Jan.1) in a joint statement from each representative of both sides, who also informed that "25 close friends and family attended the intimate sunset ceremony on the beach." Murphy previously was married to Nicole Mitchell while Edmonds, a film producer whose recent credits include "", divorced from music mogul in October 2005.
