Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist, Michael Balzary lost his French country-style home on Saturday (24.11.07) morning. To the Los Angeles Times reporter, he confirmed that his house in Malibu has been burnt down. Writing in a text-message, he stated that the house "had burnt to a crisp".
The 2.4 acre compound was burnt down following another wildfires erupted at about 3.30 a.m. in the exclusive Malibu area. The house of the Australian-born rocker, who is also known as Flea, was one of the at least 49 houses that were destroyed by the raging fires.
His house which was located in the hills west of Corral Canyon, was actually put for sale on the real estate firm, Pritchett-Rapf & Associates' website. It was offered for about 4.8 million dollars. Los Angeles Times reported that in the listing, the house was described, as quoted: "Set in a botanical paradise, this private 2.4 acre compound also features a newly refinished pool and spa, private alcoves and pathways throughout the grounds."
Besides burning down Flea's million dollars estate and other houses, the Malibu fires also forced as much as 10,000 to 14,000 people to be evacuated from the area. It was also reported that Hollywood's stars, like Matthew McConaughey and Minnie Driver were among those evacuees.
