James Cameron and were evacuated from their homes after a fire tore through their neighborhood. The fire - believed to have been caused by arcing power lines, and fuelled by the dry weather in California - started at around 5am on Sunday morning (21.10.07), and rapidly swept through 35,000 acres along the coast from San Diego to Santa Barbara, killing one person and injuring thousands.

'Titanic' director James and 'Grease' legend Olivia were two of the first people to be safely removed from their Malibu County and Carbon Beach neighborhood. An estimated 200 homes along the Pacific Coast Highway have since been evacuated.

Celebrities who live in the area include , , , Mel Gisbon, Bill Murray, Robert Redford, cCourteney and her husband , , , Goldie Hawn, and .

Governor of California has declared a state of emergency in seven counties, and fire-fighters don't expect to be able to extinguish the raging blaze until Tuesday (23.10.07) or Wednesday (24.10.07). Malibu resident Jim Palmer, 61, said: "I looked up towards the canyon and everything was just red - it was absolutely terrifying."
